Headteacher's Message

Welcome to Bowness-on-Solway Primary School. Whether you are an existing member of our community or a new family looking to join our school, I hope you find everything that you need.

With uninterrupted views of the northern Lake District fells, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the very western end of Hadrian’s Wall, we are situated in a stimulating yet calm setting where happy children learn and play. For a small school with such small class sizes, we are very fortunate to have extensive grounds with our own forest area and immediate access to the beautiful Solway Firth coastline including the beach.

This is a vibrant, inclusive and family-orientated school with a strong community ethos. We benefit from a truly exceptional staff team, hugely dedicated governors, active, supportive parents/carers and joyful, engaged children who seem to never stop smiling!

Bowness-on-Solway is a special place where each child is encouraged and supported to be their absolute best, both academically and personally. We have high expectations when it comes to learning and behaviour. It is important to us to foster a life-long love of learning in our pupils, equipping them with skills and attributes which will allow them to flourish both in school and beyond. We plan our exciting curriculum to not only inspire our pupils but to teach them about the world, drawing on their experiences and continually providing them with new ones. Families are encouraged to engage with – and really be a part of – the school. We really are at the heart of our community.

Our dedicated staff work relentlessly to provide our pupils with the very best learning opportunities and to build and maintain strong relationships between home and school. They love to go the extra mile to ensure that every individual child knows just how valued they are.

Every learner should benefit from a range of experiences, which is why all of our pupils study a musical instrument and engage in a broad range of outdoor learning experiences. Our aim is to develop responsible, well-rounded citizens who make a positive contribution to their community.

I am immensely proud to be the headteacher of Bowness-on-Solway Primary. I take great pleasure from working with our current families and very much look forward to welcoming new ones to this unique school. You are always welcome to pick up the phone and have a chat if you would like to find out more.
