Did you know that at one time Whitehaven was the third largest port in England? This was just one of the fascinating facts that class 4 heard during their trip to The Rum Story Museum. As we continue our work on 'Journeys', we have taken to look at trade and in particular how certain trades benefited Cumbria. Rum and the 'Slave Trade' certainly played its part in the history of our local region.
As part of our topic on Journeys, Trade and Migration, class 4 recently visited Maryport. We started our visit having a look around the Maritime Museum. There was lots of interesting things to see, including some wonderful seascapes and a special section based upon Cumbria's link to the Titanic.
