Through the P.E and Sport Premium, the Government is providing additional funding to support the delivery of PE and sport in primary schools.
This funding is ring fenced, and will be allocated directly to primary schools across England, providing them with dedicated resource to buy in invaluable expertise and support.
At Bowness we are using our funding to enhance PE and Sport in a number of ways:
Evaluating the school’s current strengths and weaknesses in PE and sport, and implementing plans for improvement
Continuing to subscribe to the Netherhall School Sports’ Partnership. This provides quality coaches in sports such as cricket through the year to different age groups. This also offers high quality training for our staff.
Arranging with the local cluster group, training sessions run by high quality independent PE consultants
Working in partnership with the after school club to extend the involvement in sports activity such as Gymnastics.
Purchasing additional PE equipment, with plans currently to increase the quality of gymnastics matting.
Increased profile of Dance.
Assisting our qualified gymnastics and dance coaches in school
Introducing sports staff such as Sports Apprentice/Assistant.
Any additional funding will enable the school to:
Pay for transport, pool hire and instruction to ensure that all children from Year 2 onwards are able to access a term’s swimming annually.
Enable the school to access increased sports’ events, as the isolated location mean that transport costs do not pose a barrier to accessing these opportunities
This academic year (2018/19), we will receive £16470 in Sports Funding. Our total spend will be £18726.39. We regularly update our review of provision and publish it here.
