The children have been exploring natural materials in the woods and using these to create sculptures and patterns, so today we looked at some of the creations from Andy Goldsworthy who is an artist and sculpture. The children soon realised that he uses natural materials such as flowers, grass, pebbles, pine cones, leaves, mud and petals and were inspired by his work. We then went down to the beach to create some of our own sculptures and we were so impressed with the perseverance from our children.
Today we celebrated the most colourful day of the year... ELMER DAY! We shared 'Elmer and the Stranger' and the children wrote some advice to help keep Elmer safe. We then went on to make some elephant ears for the occasion and even got the chance to hunt the characters that were playing 'hide and seek' in the woods. Pin the trunk on Elmer, making a life-size Elmer and learning a new song were just some of other fun activities that we enjoyed today.
Which activity did your child enjoy the most?
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
