'Pupils feel valued as unique individuals who make up the harmonious Bowness team' Ofsted May 2015

Welcome to Bowness-on-Solway Primary School.

Ofsted (May 2015) said about us:

  • Staff respect the fact that every pupil is unique and take care to make sure that individual learning and pastoral needs are well met. Teachers and teaching assistants work well together, which results in an excellent level of support especially for the least able pupils and those who are new to the school.
  • The school is at the heart of the community.
  • Staff share a desire for bringing out the best in pupils.
  • Teachers plan activities to capture pupils’ imaginations and develop their interests.
  • The curriculum is well planned. It provides pupils with stimulating experiences both within and beyond the school environment.

Timings of our school day

Welcome to Bowness-on-Solway Primary School!

I am very proud to be the head teacher of such a friendly, family orientated school of happy enthusiastic pupils in the village of Bowness-on-Solway.  We are at the beginning (or end depending on your viewpoint) of Hadrian's Wall and are lucky to be in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Solway Firth which continues to inspire our learning.

Your children are our priority and our full and rich curriculum delivers not just a great education, but the right education for each pupil.  This is due to our individual approach where we work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure our children's varied skills and talents are recognised and nurtured, while being determined to reach the highest standards. We want all our pupils to achieve their potential but we also want to maintain their individuality as respectful and caring Bowness children.

Through out this website you'll read the exciting comments made by Ofsted on their last inspection but you'll really see the school at it's best if you visit.

Come and meet our fantastic, creative children and  talented and approachable staff!
